Host an Event!
The Capital Roundup has had great success in the last few years with the help of volunteer hosts for "Teas", B-B-Q's, and other fund-raisers. What we ask from you is a venue, some refreshments, and your bubbling personality. We provide publicity and invitations. There have been several unique "theme" events that have been a delight to attend. If you have a nice place (that you'd love to show off to all those queens!) and are willing to host a fundraiser, we need you! Please drop us a line if you can help us by hosting a fund-raiser.
Facilitate a Workshop!
Do you have an idea for a workshop you'd like to lead at the Roundup? Is there some burning issue in recovery that you don't think has been addressed properly? Can you lend your time and energy to the recovery community? If you are interested, please submit to us a written description of the workshop you'd like to facilitate. Please keep the proposal short (100 words or less), and include your full name, sobriety date, program that the workshop relates to, and a phone number where we can contact you. Be sure to include a title so that we can list it in our literature and mailings. You can submit this via e-mail or by regular mail to PO Box 76786, Washington DC 20013. The Roundup sponsors recovery workshops throughout the year, not just at the annual convention. Please consider working with us to enhance the recovery experience of others in the community.
On-Site Help!
Another important volunteer function is simply showing up. We always need help at the events; we need people at the registration desk, ushers for the Meetings and The Play, greeters for the Meetings and The Dance, ticket takers, setup, cleanup, and general support. Be a STAR!
Remember the Capital Roundup Players motto: "Talent is a liability". If you'd like to be part of the fun, please contact Tim C. and let us know. It's never too late to join in. Imagine! You could be up on that stage with the all the usual suspects. This is your BIG CHANCE! Don't forget to sign up for the annual talent shows in June and December. This has become one of our favourite events, and YOU could be part of the fun.
Don't forget what a large production the play can be. If you have talents in staging or production, sound or lighting, we need you. We also welcome any musicians who'd like to assist in the "incidental" music. Don't be shy! We need you!
What can you do?
Your support is essential to the Roundup's survival. It is a completely volunteer non-profit organization, and receives no funding from any 12-step or government body. There are many simple things you can do to help. One thing that would help greatly is to announce Roundup Events at every meeting you go to.
